Short Biography

Business and thought leader BARBARA MEYNERT has executive expertise across a broad range of sectors in Asia and Internationally. She is Senior Advisor to the Fung Group and a member of the Executive Committee of the UN ESCAP Sustainable Business Network. She serves on the Hong Kong Cyberport Advisory Panel and the FinTech Advisory Council of the Astana International Financial Centre. She is Adjunct Professor at the University of Hong Kong and Vice-Chair of the Hong Kong-Asean Economic Cooperation Foundation.

Professor Meynert is actively involved with the digital technologies that are transforming our world and providing new opportunities. She is in much demand as a conference speaker. One of her recent speaking engagements was at the Economist Forum on the “Future of Work”. As Vice Chair of CarbonBlue Innovations, she is engaged in blockchain-based cross border payment initiatives designed to empower small businesses on the Digital Silk Road.

Professor Meynert has long been associated with the Paris-headquartered International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). From the start of covid19, she been actively collaborating with ICC on a global campaign to help ensure the availability of trade finance to enable SMEs to engage in international trade during and after the pandemic. One outcome of this collaboration is a report, produced jointly with McKinsey, to address the chronic trade finance deficit, notably for SMEs.
