Bishop Prof. Dr. Dennis T.W. Ng (Th.D., Ph.D.) received the Doctor of Theology from The South East Asia Graduate School of Theology (Chung Chi College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong) and the Doctor of Philosophy from the Shanghai University. He also pursued further education at Tsinghua University, Beijing; studied photography at the Parsons School of Design, The New School in New York, and international relations at Norwich University, USA. He is a renowned international speaker well-known for his interdisciplinary research that integrates history, international relations, sociology, and religious and cultural studies to analyze the development of modern civilization. He is best known for his work on the relationship between international social enterprises (photographic cooperative, travel agencies, publishing houses, etc.) and different political cultures, the study of cultural conflicts, and international harmony.
He is currently the Chairman of Bishop Dennis Ng Victory Ministries Foundation Ltd which has been granted special consultative status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 2021. He is also a Senior Fellow at the Andrew F. Walls Centre for the Study of African and Asian Christianity at the Liverpool Hope University, U.K.; President of the Institute of International Harmony and Sustainable Development; Professor of Systematic Theology & Dean of School of Sacred Music, China Victory Theological Seminary of Hong Kong; Adjunct Professor of Theology & Sacred Music, East China Theological Seminary of Shanghai; Research Fellow of the Center for Study of Religion and Chinese Society at the Shanghai University, China and Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Harmony and Humanity. His research areas include cultural studies, history, religion and international relations, and Chinese Christianity.
Prof. Ng’s missions span across the North America, South Asia and Africa. He is often invited to present his speeches and papers in prestigious universities and theological seminaries such as Yale University, Princeton University, University of Edinburgh, Peking University, University of British Columbia, LMU Munich University, University of Manchester, Fujian Normal University, Fuller Theological Seminary, Yanjing Theological Seminary in Beijing, and others. Prof. Ng is a prolific author who regularly organizes photography exhibitions and has published 17 academic monographs and dozens of academic papers. His book Theology of Harmony (Hong Kong: Joint Publishing, 2018) is influential in China. His latest photography exhibition was held in London in July 2024, and he was invited to deliver speeches at the prestigious Centre for Faith and Culture at Yale University in November last year, and at the Centre for Chinese Studies at the University of Malaya in January this year.
In 2022, Prof. Ng founded Harmony Photos, with a visionary approach to addressing the challenges of promoting peace and organizing academic conferences on harmony amidst the backdrop of the Russian-Ukrainian War and the Sino-American tensions. Recognizing the limitations of conventional channels, Prof. Ng has embarked on a path of promoting cultural tourism and photography projects worldwide. These endeavors have sought to foster cross-cultural understanding, enabling travelers to delve into the rich tapestry of different countries’ cultures and histories, while strictly avoiding any hint of political advocacy. He leverages the expertise of renowned photographers and musicians from different countries and regions. Through the utilization of static and visual media, the Foundation endeavors to exemplify the importance of mutual appreciation for each other’s cultures and histories, promoting cultural exchanges and communication amidst the turbulence era.
