Short Biography

CHNG HUCK THENG is a person that believes in living to the fullest. Wasting time and cannot perform are never an option because life is all about believing in oneself. Chng wears many hats both in the business and creative industries. Executive Director of the oldest brand name of Chinese pastries and sesame oil – Ghee Hiang, he and his partner have grown Ghee Hiang from a Malaysia name to today an international brand.

He has also successfully founded CHTNetwork almost 2 decades ago with the theme ‘Where All Good Things In Life Meet’… Connecting Beautiful People & Promoting Quality Brands. There are 3 main entities under the CHTNetwork umbrella. Markets MarketSource is one of the leading publishers in Malaysia with titles such as EZ Malaysia and INPenang magazines, hard covers book include Born Malaysia Proud to be Malaysians. It also carries the first Malaysia export title to Australia – EZ Australia. CHT International Awards is a platform to bring good friends all over the world to gather and recognise individuals and organisations that have done well in their respective industries. Further providing the opportunities for friends to meet and explore possible business potentials.  One East Museum & Art deals with antique, art and culture as Chng believes that these are the soul of a country that should be protected and promoted as national treasures and future generations to come.

Chng is also an award winning artist and sculptor that his works are highly collected by collectors and art institutions around the world. Recently his work was selected for the prestigious London Art Bienalle 2021, Chng’s artwork are in some respected institutions and museums in China, Singapore, England, Australia, France, etc. His work is also being presented as Malaysia National Gift to China, England and Australia. He is also the youngest Chinese antique collector in Malaysia, started at the age of 14. Have written various books on topics about Chinese families rose porcelain and figurines.

Today Chng has his own museum and he is the Chairman of Association of Tourism Attractions Penang (ATAP), President of Penang Art Society and Penang Antique Collectors Association. He was also the youngest in Malaysia history to sit in the Board of National Art Gallery and he was the key person to push for Malaysian art to be classified as soft export under MITI.
