Short Biography

TAN SRI DATO’ SERI LIM GAIT TONG, with ancestral origin from Lingtou County, Huian, Fujian Province, is the person who takes the helm of Farlim Group (Malaysia) Bhd.  Tan Sri Lim Gait Tong was conferred DSPN which carries the title of Dato’ by the Governor of Penang in 1990.  He was conferred DGPN with the Dato’ Seri title by the Governor of Penang again in 1994 in conjunction with the Governor’s birthday celebration. In 2007, Tan Sri Lim Gait Tong was conferred PSM which carries the title of Tan Sri by the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong to the wishes of many.

Farlim Group (Malaysia) Bhd. was incorporated in 1982. Tan Sri Lim Gait Tong is one of the founders and served as a member of the first Board of Directors. In 1988, he was appointed as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive.  Under the leadership of Tan Sri, the Company was successfully listed on the then Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange in 1995 and expanded its business to China.

Currently, he is the Chairman and Chief Executive of Farlim Group (Malaysia) Bhd. and Executive Chairman of its subsidiary Bandar Subang Sdn Bhd.

Tan Sri Lim Gait Tong, apart from involvement in business, actively participates in social activities and is a prominent figure in the Chinese community. He has spared no expense and effort. Tan Sri Lim was also the former President of the Federation of Hokkien Associations of Malaysia, Vice Chairman and Adviser of Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce. He is currently or has served as a member of numerous organizations locally and abroad.  Among the more prominent ones, The Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Hua Zong); Malaysia China Trade and Economic Chamber of Commerce; The Federation of Hokkien Associations of Malaysia; China-ASEAN Business Association and the China Returned Overseas Chinese Friendship.

In recognition of Tan Sri Lim Gait Tong’s outstanding leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, and contribution to the economic field of Malaysia, the then Yang DiPertuan Agong Sultan Azlan Shah conferred on Tan Sri Lim Gait Tong the Honorary Membership of the Malaysian Association of British Graduates in 1993.

Tan Sri Lim was also invited by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of China to attend the Asian Boao Forum held in Hainan (2011-2014).

He was also awarded with numerous honorary titles over the years by the Provincial Government of Shandong Province such as “Honorary Citizen of Shandong Province” and “Outstanding Entrepreneur of Shandong Province” in 2019; “Confucius Culture and Tourism Ambassador” in 2020 and was elected as the first chairman of the “Belt and Road Federation of Overseas Chinese Chambers of Commerce” in 2021.
