TAN SRI LEE KIM YEW

Executive Chairman and Founder of Country Heights Holdings Berhad, TAN SRI LEE KIM YEW is known as an established property developer and a renowned entrepreneur with over 35 years of experience in the industry. The pioneering spirit of Tan Sri Lee led him to focus on property development with a difference and he soon made his mark inland and urban regeneration projects in Malaysia as well as in the international arena.

He first earned industry recognition for his landmark role in transforming an abandoned rubber estate into country home living residences with quality landscaped environments.  He later took up the challenge to deliver with the vision and drive which was the hallmark of his entrepreneurial style by converting the world’s largest open cast mining land into a breathtaking landmark – the MINES Resort City.   It is the largest environmental project undertaken throughout Malaysian history.  From the jungles of North Borneo to the hinterland of Mauritius, from the backwaters of Johannesburg to the stand-alone historical Royal Docks of London, Tan Sri Lee has made his mark on property development.  The Exhibition Centre in London (ExCel) – Britain’s largest stand-alone exhibition centre in the Docklands is a result of his vision and passion; so is the Borneo Highlands Resorts and Hornbill Golf & Jungle Club in Sarawak, which has won the CNBC Award for the Best Golf Development in Malaysia in the year 2008.

In the hospitality industry that also covers golf course management and tourism.  His company owns and manages three state-of-the-art golf courses two in Malaysia and one in South Africa – and several hotels including the magnificent, award-winning Palace of the Golden Horses and the MINES Wellness Hotel in Kuala Lumpur and the Hornbill Golf and Jungle Club in Sarawak. The spectacular Palace of the Golden Horses has held various international events such as NAM Summit, Commonwealth Games, APEX and G15.

With his innovative entrepreneurial acumen and hands-on involvement, Tan Sri Lee has also led the Group towards Health Tourism in early 2000, as the first in Asia, to establish a preventive health screening center within a resort – GHHS Healthcare.
